Hardware is the heart of an SDR – it must be reconfigurable and programmable. Most SDRs have a General Purpose Processor (GPP), a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), and a Field Programmable Gate Array device (FPGA) all of which can be programmed with software.

The Thunder™ SDR Platform is the latest offering in the affordable, wide-band, high performance SDR family from DataSoft. Thunder™ is a full duplex, COTS solution that provides signal communications systems engineers and waveform developers with a fully-functional, reconfigurable radio development platform. Thunder™ is enclosed with a custom metal 1U chassis with multiple user interfaces and a removable cover for ease in development.
