Thunder SDR Waveform Development and Test System
The Thunder SDR System is the latest offering in the affordable, wide-band, high performance SDR family from DataSoft. Thunder is a full duplex COTS solution that provides signal communications systems engineers and waveform developers with a fully-functional, reconfigurable radio development platform. The Thunder SDR System is offered in two distinct RF operating ranges: 400 to 4000 MHz (available now) and 30 to 400 MHz (available April-12). The direct conversion architecture provides continuous RF coverage over each operating range.
The platform includes a full-duplex RF transceiver system, a consolidated digital system and a wide-band RF front end module, all operating in an open source Linux-based environment and enclosed in a 1U housing.
Features
- Fully adjustable, independent transmit/receive baseband filters for wide RF signal bandwidths from 20 KHz to 20 MHz
- Fully adjustable transmit/receive sample rates from 2.4 Ksps to 100 Msps
- Unique dual-DDS architecture that mitigates spurs for ultra fast hopping capabilities
- Multiple programmable devices to maximize design flexibility
- A multi-core processor (OMAP DM37x) running Linux out-of-the-box interfaced to the FPGA and RF system for waveform processing and hardware control
- Commercial GPS receiver for location, time, and 1-PPS output
- Custom metal 1U chassis with multiple user interfaces and a removable cover for ease in waveform and software development
Applications
- PHY-MAC and router applications
- Cross layer WF optimization designs
- Design, implementation of networked cognitive spectrally fragmented WFs
- 802.x WF PHY MAC layer simulation and prototyping
- Spectrum Agile WF development
