DataSoft Launches iPhone App for Automatic Injury Detection (AID)

Tempe, Arizona – December 4, 2017 – Today DataSoft launched a new iPhone app for Automatic Injury Detection (AID) – a wearable sensor technology designed to help save lives. The AID iPhone (iOS) app is now available for free download on the iTunes App Store. The AID iPhone app connects to the AID sensors via Bluetooth and automatically sends an emergency alert whenever the sensors are pierced by a bullet, blade or shrapnel.

The AID iPhone app automatically sends an emergency alert to an Internet server for immediate notification at dispatch and routing to other officers/personnel smartphone or radio. The emergency alert includes the officer’s name, any personal information such as blood type and allergies, the injury zone (upper/lower, front or back) and a GPS link to the location of the attack. The automation, speed and accuracy of this critical information helps ensure that the officer under attack gets assistance as quickly as possible.

The AID system is based on a thin film sensor with a conductive ink trace that can be inserted into the body armor, in front of the ballistic material. The sensors are worn on the front and back of the user to detect any piercing event (e.g. bullet, knife or shrapnel) and automatically send a call/message for help over a radio or smartphone. The current AID app for Android-based smartphones is available on the Google Play store.

In many cases, the officer survives the attack but may be incapacitated, have to fight back or flee the scene. AID makes sure they get medical help and/or back-up that’s needed to prevent further harm and apprehend the attacker.
